West Virginia Power April 21 Week in Review


West Virginia finished the week 2-4.  The four losses were by a total of just six runs.  The Power are currently 9-15 on the season.  The Power are sitting in 6th place in South Atlantic League Northern Division, 5 games behind the Hickory Crawdads. 

This week the Power finishes up their road series with Savannah and then return home to face Greensboro and Greenville.

Bradenton Marauders April 21 Week in Review


Bradenton finished the week 3-3 and are 7-15 on the season.  The Marauders are currently in fifth place in the Florida State League South Division, 11.5 games behind Fort Myers.

This week the Marauders host Brevard County for four games and then travel to Palm Beach for three.

Indianapolis Indians April 21 Week in Review


Indianapolis went 6-1 this week and improved their season record to 17-7, tops in the International league.  The Indians are 4.5 games ahead of Columbus in the Western Division.

The only loss of the week came in game 2 of a double-header against Lehigh Valley.  Six different pitchers earned wins this week for Indy.

Making a Major League rehab start, left-hander Francisco Liriano allowed just one run and struck out eight over 5.0 innings against Lehigh Valley on Thursday night.

Josh Harrison stole home against Lehigh Valley Friday night, one of three scores for him on the evening.

Indianapolis will play games 2-4 against Gwinnett at home and then will travel to Lehigh Valley for four games to wrap up the week.

Altoona Curve April 21 Week in Review


Altoona finished the week with a 2-4 record and fell to last place in the Eastern League Western Division.  The Curve are 9-13 and tied for last place with Akron, 4 games behind the Portland Seadogs.

Starting pitcher Stolmy Pimentel shut out Richmond over six innings to earn his first win of the season on Wednesday.  Pimentel has allowed just one run in 23.1 innings pitched this season. 

Altoona played their 1000th regular-season home game in franchise history this week, losing 3-1 to Erie.  Prospect Jameson Taillon got the loss for the Curve.

This week the Curve wrap-up a three game set with Erie and then welcome Akron to town for a four-game series.  Altoona and the Aeros conclude their series with a 10:30 Kids Day matchup on Thursday.  They then head north for a three game series in Erie.

West Virginia finished the week 4-3.  They are currently 7-10 on the season.  The Power are sitting in 6th place in South Atlantic League Northern Division, 3 games behind a trio of teams at 10-7. 

Barrett Barnes, the number 8 prospect in the Pittsburgh organization, was promoted to West Virginia this week from extended spring training.

This week the Power finishes up their home series with Hagerstown and then hits the road to Charleston and Savannah.

Indianapolis Indians April 14 Week in Review


Indianapolis went 5-2 this week, losing 2 of 3 at Louisville.  Several roster moves impacted the Indians’ roster this week.  The Pirates called up Vin Mazzaro and Alex Presley.  The Bucs sent Bryan Morris Phil Irwin to Indy.  Brandon Cumpton was also promoted from Altoona.

The Indians are currently 11-6 and in first place of the International League Western Division, 1.5 games ahead of Louisville.

This week the Indians will spend the week at home hosting Louisville for two games, Lehigh Valley for four, and the first of a four game series with Gwinnett.

Altoona Curve April 14 Week in Review


Altoona finished the week with a 3-4 record with two rainouts and two extra inning tilts.  Andrew Lambo had a big week for Altoona improving his batting average by 20 points and adding 8 RBIs.  Starting pitcher Tim Alderson was promoted to AAA Indianapolis.

Currently the Curve are 7-9 and in fourth place of the Eastern League Western Division, 2.5 games behind the Bowie Baysox.

Altoona will wrap up a four-game set at Harrisburg this afternoon then travel to Richmond for three games.  Altoona comes home to People’s Natural Gas field on Friday and will host Erie.

West Virginia Power Week in Review


West Virginia started the season with a 3-7 record in the South Atlantic League, sixth place in the North Division.  The Power lost three of four to Asheville at home in the season opening series.  They traveled to Charlestown and were swept in three games by the RiverDogs.  In their first road series of the season, the Power won three out of four at Asheville.

This week WV wraps up their series with Asheville, travels to Greensville, and then welcomes Hagerstown to town.

Bradenton Marauders Week in Review

Bradenton did not start the season as they would have hoped, falling to an unimpressive 1-8 record.  The Marauders did not pick up their first win until yesterday, a 4-3 win over St. Lucie.

This week Bradenton finishes out their series against St. Lucie before traveling to Jupiter for three games.  The Marauders come back home for a three-game set against Palm Beach.

Indianapolis Indians Week in Review


Indianapolis opened the 2013 season by splitting a four-game set against Columbus.  The Indians lost games one and two, but bounced back with nice wins in the final two games of the series.  Those wins carried over to a three-game sweep of visiting Toledo.  Indy traveled to Columbus on Thursday, but that game was postponed.  The Indians again dropped games one and two, but bounced back to win game three.  Indianapolis is in first place of the International League Western Division.

This week the Indians look to tie the series with Columbus before traveling to Toledo on Monday to face the Mud Hens again.  They then travel to Louisville for a five-game stint against the Bats.

Altoona Curve Week in Review

The Curve opened the season with a 4-5 record and are currently sitting in fourth place in the Eastern League  Western Division.  Altoona split a four-game opening series at Erie, winning the two middle games of the series.  They split a two-game series at Akron with game three being postponed.  The 2013 home opener was Thursday night and they won a 5-4 contest against Harrisburg.  The Senators won the next two in that four-game series.

The Curve finish out their home stand with Harrisburg and then welcome the Richmond Flying Squirrels to town.  Altoona will then travel to Harrisburg on Thursday for a four-game series with the Senators.
